Time for another Rossland Winter Carnival! Come by the museum between 10 am and 5 pm Saturday-Sunday January 24th-25th for our snow maze, a snowman-building contest, sledding, hot chocolate, maple taffy, and more!
January Speaker Series with Dan Grec: The Pan-American Highway: From Alaska to Argentina
What a trip! This Thursday, January 29th at 6 pm, join us at the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre as Author-Adventurer Dan Grec takes us on a journey with the tale of his cross-hemisphere adventure. Join Dan for an informal photo and stories night with lots of advice for your own adventure!
Rossland Museum Holiday Plans
Drop by the Museum between 12 and 4 pm on Tuesday, December 23rd, for some holiday fun! We’ll have crafty Christmas decorations and holiday treats. We’ll also pull out our toboggans and our kid-sized snowshoes for some wintery fun! Entry by donation.
We’re open through the holidays! Tuesdays to Sundays, 10 am to 5 pm.

Rekindle Holiday Workshop 2025
Rekindle is coming up! Don't forget to visit the Museum on Saturday, December 6th to join in the celebrations.
We're hosting a one-stop shop for kids to handcraft some of their holiday gifts this year, so drop by between 10 am and 4 pm to try our craft stations and gift-wrap solutions. With craft options and DIY decor geared for ages 4-12, there's something for everyone on the list!
We'll have snacks, hot chocolate, and a festive scavenger hunt! The Museum Shop is filled to the brim with gift options and stocking stuffers, including kids' games and hands-on science kits, prints and jewelry by local artists, our book section, and more. Stop by to enter the Rekindle draw!
December 2025 Speaker Series with Richie Mann: Packing for the 1956 Yukon Geological Expedition
Richie Mann returns to the Rossland Museum for another captivating Speaker Series presentation - this time sharing the remarkable story of driving pack horses during a 1956 Geological Expedition in the Yukon Territory. Join us at the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre at 6 pm on Thursday, December 11th, 2025 to hear the tale! Featuring Richie's signature storytelling and stunning photographs captured on his Brownie Hawkeye camera, this promises to be another can’t-miss evening.
Echoes of War: Remembrance Day Film Festival & Outreach Exhibits
This Remembrance Day, we're hosting a mini film festival to explore the lasting impact of the Second World War. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the conclusion of the global conflict, we'll show five films from the National Film Board of Canada that will examine the themes of memory, loss, and the legacy of one of the world's largest conflicts. Drop by for one film, or stay to see them all!

September 2025 Speaker Series with Don Vockeroth and Craig McCallum: The Muskwa Expedition
We are so excited to host mountaineering pioneers Don Vockeroth & Craig McCallum for a Speaker Series event. Come out to the Rossland Museum at 6 pm on Thursday, September 18th for the thrilling tale of their 1998 Muskwa Expedition. Featuring several first ascents and a route never before attempted, the story of their adventure embodies these local legends' trailblazing spirit and inspiring careers in the backcountry.
October Speaker Series with Amber Peters: Safe Haven
SPECIAL SCREENING! We're excited to announce a special presentation of the new documentary Safe Haven: The Rainbow-Jordan Wilderness with an introduction from biologist Amber Peters. From the environmental champions at Valhalla Wilderness Society and filmmaker Damien Gillis, this 30-minute documentary highlights the globally significant Inland Temperate Rainforest encompassed in VWS’s Rainbow-Jordan Wilderness Park proposal. See it here at the Rossland Museum at 6 pm on Wednesday, October 1st. Entry by donation.
2025 Rossland Golden City Days at the Museum
We’re thrilled to be taking part in another Rossland Golden City Days weekend of festivities! Downtown, look for our float in the parade and check out our booth at the Fall Fair!
Here at the museum, we'll join the celebrations with special open-by-donation days from 10 am - 6 pm Saturday to Sunday, September 6th and 7th, featuring special crafts, games, scavenger hunts, and gold panning. We'll have guided outdoor tours at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm so you can learn all about our town's golden past... and the not-so-shiny bits, too!
New Additions to the Upper Level Exhibits!
Thanks to funding from the LeRoi Community Foundation and TECK Trail Operations we’ve been making some changes to improve visitor experiences in our Upper Level displays.

In partnership with the Rossland Incredible Market, we'll be featuring Kootenay artisans, vendors, and food trucks! Plus, a bouncy castle, lawn games, scavenger hunt, and crafts make this the perfect event to enjoy on a September afternoon.
